The VBA is saddened by the passing of 2 of its members. Andor Herman passed away suddenly in mid October. Our thoughts are with his wife, Jacqueline and family. Patricia Snowden passed away last Friday following a long illness, our thoughts are with her husband Gerald and family.

NOTICE OF VICTORIAN BRIDGE ASSOCIATION LTD ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting of the Victorian Bridge Association Limited will be held at the VBA Clubrooms, 131 Poath Road, Murrumbeena, Victoria, 3163 on Tuesday 6th December 2011 commencing at 6.30 p.m.

All financial members of the VBA are welcome at attend the AGM and enjoy a free game of duplicate bridge thereafter. Any person whose name does not appear on the register of financial members will not be entitled to vote.

Any member wishing to give notice for the AGM must lodge a copy of the details of the motion with the VBA Secretary, 131 Poath Road, Murrumbeena, Victoria, 3163 no later than close of business on Friday 4th November, 2011.

The details of any such motion must include the exact wording of the motion, the full names and ABF membership numbers of the mover and seconder of the motion, signed and dated by both members, and a short background/purpose of the motion. A copy of each notice of motion will be sent to all members as part of the mail out of AGM papers.

All positions on Council will fall vacant on the date of the AGM. Members are invited to nominate for the positions of President, Vice-President (2), Treasurer, Secretary and eight ordinary Councillors. The closing date for nominations is Tuesday 29th November 2011. Please refer to the Nominations Sheet posted on the Green Scoring Board in the Sara Tishler Room.

Vale Kris Brook

We are all saddened by the news that Kris Brook has suddenly passed away. Kris was a well-known bridge player, a Grand Master, playing often at the VBA. Her funeral service will be on Thursday 27 October at 4pm at St Francis Church cr Baxter & Davey St Frankston (Melways 102 D3).

Victorian Youth Bridge Juniors Session: Free Bridge Lessons for 6-15 Year Olds

The Victorian Youth Bridge Club is introducing a Juniors session for 6-15 year olds. The card game of bridge is not only the world's most challenging mental sport and a lot of fun but improves teamwork, problem solving, creativity and many more technical skills that are transferable to many aspects of life.

Location: Waverley Bridge Club, 21B Electra Ave Ashwood.
Time: Every Tuesday from 4.30-7.30, starting October 11.
Cost: No Charge
