| Young Guns Fire | By: Blaine Howe |
Young guns Ben Kingham and Jeremy Rosen along with Blaine Howe and Neil Ewart took out the Christmas Teams in style, leading from start to finish. The team took no prisoners, averaging 23VPs per Round after Round 5
It is good to see the youth pair have a strong performance for a whole event. I would like to think that they will continue to improve and become a force in Victorian Bridge.
The team had help on the last night from super-sub Chris Hughes, who was highly entertained (as was the rest of the table) when I got away with a senior moment. | |
For some reason, I have found that I only tend to get lucky when I am in a team that is playing well. This is actually a good thing because it means you win your share of events. Witness:

This was a regulation 4S until I opened out of turn with the hand on the right. After the director had his say, the bidding returned to Chris who was informed he had to Pass throughout. After 2 Passes I opened 4S in tempo. This is obvious as long as you think of it!
I wrapped up 4S fairly quickly and enjoyed immensely the groaning, rolling of the eyes and general hilarity that followed.
When you dodge a bullet like that, I guess it is going to be your day. |
